?Tamil Nadu’s Engineering Exports See Strong Growth Despite Global Challenges?
Engineering goods exports from Tamil Nadu are increasing despite global market challenges.
According to EEPC India, Tamil Nadu accounted for 15.8% of India’s engineering exports, worth $18.1 billion, in the financial year ending March 31, 2025. Between April and September 2025, exports rose to $13.6 billion, up from $12.9 billion during the same period in 2024. The state’s share of total engineering exports has now reached 20%Exporters in Coimbatore say the growth is mainly driven by the automotive sector. Strong performance in the domestic commercial vehicle market over the past few months has led to higher orders for auto component manufacturers. While demand in the after-sales market remains steady, major exporters have contributed significantly to the export growth.
Exporters also noted that engineering exports typically perform well in the second and third quarters of the year. Other contributing factors include rupee depreciation, tariff-sharing adjustments, and advance shipments made before new tariffs came into effect.
