Govt Increases Pulses Procurement, Approves 13.2 Lakh Tonnes of Tur
The Centre has ramped up tur (arhar) procurement in key pulse-producing states, ensuring 100% purchase of tur, urad, and masoor at MSP, the Agriculture Ministry announced.
Key Highlights:
13.22 lakh tonnes of tur approved for FY25 across 9 states:
Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Procurement already underway in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Telangana, with 1.31 lakh tonnes purchased by March 11, benefiting 89,219 farmers.
Other states to start procurement soon.
Government Support & Future Plans:
PM-AASHA Scheme extended until 2025-26 to ensure direct procurement, stabilize prices, and reduce import dependence.
100% procurement commitment extended until 2028-29.
