Tamil Nadu Govt Asked to Support Apparel Sector During LPG Shortage

The Apparel Export Promotion Council has requested the Tamil Nadu government to include the apparel export sector in the 20% commercial LPG cylinder allotment during the current shortage.

Chairman A. Sakthivel made this request to Ministers R. Sakkarapani and T. R. B. Rajaa, highlighting that LPG is essential for garment manufacturing processes like dyeing, washing, and finishing.

He warned that without a steady LPG supply, many processing units may stop operations, affecting production and exports. This could also impact lakhs of workers who depend on the industry for their livelihood.

The council has urged the government to provide at least a limited LPG supply to help the industry continue its operations during the crisis.
