Himachal CM Seeks Higher Apple Import Duty, Increased Borrowing Limit
New Delhi, May 23 (PTI) – Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Finance MinisterNirmala Sitharaman to address concerns over apple imports from Turkey, which he said are hurting local growers.
He urged a nationwide increase in import duty on apples to protect Indian farmers, including those in Himachal.
The CM also discussed the state’s financial issues and requested a 2% rise in the borrowing limit for Himachal and other special category states.
He highlighted the state's efforts to improve financial management despite facing fiscal challenges.
